RAYLAND, Ohio — The annual Day of Champions took place in Rayland on Thursday.

It's a fun competition put on by the Brightway Center, a non-profit Christian organization.

Dozens of kids from all over Jefferson County were split into teams and completed physical and mental challenges.

“I've learned a lot,” participant Misty Davis said. “I learned that violence is never the answer. I've learned what adversity is. I've learned how to be a leader, how to be a follower, and a lot of other stuff."

"I would definitely recommend it for people who haven't been here,” participant Marquan Jackson said. “It's fun; it's a nice way to meet new people, and if you feel like you have what it takes to be a champion, then this is definitely the place for you to be."

Day of Champions teaches a number of skills like team-building and how to be a leader and a follower.
